POSTER AND SEMINAR-CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN ASIAN ARCHITECTURE
Project 2
This project is research driven that requires students to research and discuss significant issues to generate a critical understanding pf tradition, modernity and globalisation in the Asian architectural contexts. These issues are discussed in lectures and pre-recorded lectures to facilitate students' group discussion in class. Students are required to present their findings in the form of a research poster and seminar presentation.
Objectives of Project
To develop critical thinking and interpretations on the salient issues of globalisation in the Asian architectural scene through problem-solving approach and facilitated group discussions.
Learning Outcomes of this Project
Describe the historical development of vernacular architecture in the Asian region that responded to the indigenous contexts.
Interpret significant issues in relation to the development of contemporary Asian architecture based on themes of tradition, modernity and globalisation.
TASKS
In this project, we were required to form a group and identify a significant issue that traditional streets are facing from one of the traditional streets that was chosen from project 1.
Then, a direction for the study was chosen from one of the given four options and we began conducting literature reviews and site visits to identify the specific issues to define the specific scope of study.
A research title was generated after this and we divided the tasks of answering the research questions amongst the group members. These answers were compiled in a research poster along with the rest of the requirements, like case studies, abstract and conceptual framework. A ten minutes video presentation of the poster was made and uploaded to YouTube after the research poster was done.
